Global Association of Montessori Education and Sport (GAMES) is a nonprofit organisation that promotes peace, sustainability, and international friendship, by engaging young people and educators in shared sporting, educational and cultural activities. Their international events welcome Montessorians from all over the world, not for sporting competition, but for collaborative learning and life experiences that focus on teamwork, cultural understanding and building a better, more connected, world. The first event, Global Montessori Games, was created in 2018 with the aim to connect people though sport, education and shared culture, in the Olympic spirit of fun, friendship, solidarity and fair play. This is now offered to both elementary and adolescent age students, and have been held all over the world.
The Sustainable Development Games are more focused around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and allow young people to immerse themselves in these challenges though hands-on activity, while working together to find solutions. Both events are great examples of youth-led projects that give young people a voice, allow them to develop valuable leadership and organisational skills, and reinforce the ethos of cooperation and community engagement.
We welcome you to join our interactive webinar to hear some of those voices, to learn more about what they do, why they do it, and how they engage young people before, during and after our events, in order to make a lasting impact on the people and communities they work with.
