The Montessori Europe Sustainability Working Group is excited to present Montessori Europe’s first 2024 webinar on March 27th 2024.  This webinar will be hosted by Rebecca Katsaris, early years’ educator and board member of Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre (Cyprus).  Rebecca and her team have successfully managed to have their sustainable marine life initiative approved by the Cyprus Ministry of Education. This project is supported by the Cyprus Environment Foundation and is part of the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030. The team have also been invited to Greece, Italy and more recently to Brussels to present this initiative to teachers and schools.  We hope that you will join our webinar to see how you can introduce sustainability into your classrooms too.

Why is this particularly vital for Montessori teachers?

The topic supports the Montessori philosophy of experiential learning and holistic education, highlighting how the arts can serve as a powerful conduit for instilling environmental stewardship. By harnessing the creativity and curiosity inherent in Montessori students, and guiding them to express their learnings and concerns about marine environments through various art forms, this approach not only enriches their educational experience but also empowers them to become proactive guardians of our oceans.
