Webinar: Nature Connectedness

Nature connectedness explains how much one feels connected to the natural world. Research has shown that a close nature connectedness leads to pro-environmental behaviour. This relationship is best developed before the age of eight through immersive experiences that are shaped around a child's own inquiry. After an engaging workshop presentation at the 2025 ME congress in Oslo, Michaela Geytenbeek joins us to share her deep commitment to nature and the reasons for her campaign to engage children and young people with the natural world. Montessorian at heart, she believes that our connection with nature is a natural human tendency which needs to be re-ignited and bolstered not only in education but also in our daily lives. In our conversation we will explore the benefits of human connection with the natural environment and be introduced to some of the programmes Michaela is running in her native South Africa, so rich in animal and plant life and wonderful landscape, wild seas and foreboding mountains. Find out what Michaela’s experience could mean to you and your practice and what you could share with your own community in promoting love of outdoor life.
